Download Workout Samurai

Out now on both stores, listed as Workout Samurai: Push-Ups. Free to download, free to play, and nothing to buy before you can count your first rep.

  • Out now on the App Store and Google Play
  • Free to download and free to play
  • No account needed: your account starts anonymous
  • No equipment beyond a phone you can stand upright

The short answer

Workout Samurai: Push-Ups is available now on the App Store and Google Play, for iPhone and Android. It is free to download and free to play: the camera rep counter, the dojo campaign, samurai titles, clans and ranked seasons all cost nothing. It ships in six languages and needs no account to start.

Where to get it

Workout Samurai: Push-Ups is on the App Store and on Google Play. Those two listings are the only places it is distributed. Anything else offering a Workout Samurai download, an APK or an early-access build did not come from us, and installing it is a bad idea for the ordinary reasons.

What you get for nothing

  • The on-device rep counter, with a haptic pulse per rep and manual claiming if you decline camera access. How it works is on the AI counter page.
  • The dojo campaign, a map of levels grouped into chapters, each its own biome, with yokai and a chapter boss at the end of each.
  • Samurai titles, from Ashigaru at the start up to Daimyō at the top of the ladder.
  • Ranked seasons, across six divisions from Bronze to Master, scored on verified reps.
  • Clans, with a shared vault, an upgradeable town hall and a weekly clan boss raid.

All of that is the free game, and rank sits inside it: titles and divisions come from verified reps, and nothing you can buy moves either one. Dōjō Premium is the optional subscription on top, and what it adds is tempo rather than standing: train without waiting, weekly rest insurance so a week off does not break a streak, and back-to-back clan boss raids.

First-run advice worth thirty seconds

  1. Link your account early

Accounts start anonymous and device-scoped, which means an unlinked account lives on that phone only and is lost if you uninstall. Linking to Apple, Google or email takes a moment and makes progress portable.

  2. Set the phone up properly

Stand it upright two to three feet in front of you at roughly floor level, facing you, with your head, shoulders and hands in frame. Most counting complaints are framing complaints. The camera setup guide covers the rest.

  3. Test your max honestly

One unbroken set to technical failure gives you a number worth tracking. The push-up test calculator scores it against published norms for your age and sex.

What the app does not do

Worth knowing before you install rather than after. It counts standard push-ups and does not identify variations. It does not write you a training programme, prescribe sessions or schedule your recovery. It trains one movement, so it does nothing for your back, legs or cardiovascular base.

If a plan is what you actually want, the guides and tools on this site are free, need no account, and work whether or not you ever install anything. Following the progression published here with a notebook will make you stronger. That is a slightly strange thing for an app's download page to say, and it is true.

Frequently asked questions

Is Workout Samurai available now?

Yes. Workout Samurai: Push-Ups is out on both the App Store and Google Play, for iPhone and Android. It is free to download and free to play, and it ships in English, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese.

Where can I download Workout Samurai?

From the App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android, listed as Workout Samurai: Push-Ups. Those are the only two places it is distributed. Any other site offering a download, an APK or an early-access build is not distributing our software.

Is Workout Samurai free?

It is free to download and free to play. The camera rep counter, the dojo campaign, samurai titles, clans and ranked seasons cost nothing. There is an optional subscription and there are cosmetic gem packs, and neither buys rank.

Is there a Workout Samurai APK?

There is no official APK and no sideload distribution. The Android version is released through Google Play only. A file claiming to be Workout Samurai for Android did not come from us and should not be installed.

Do I need an account to play?

No. Your account starts anonymous and device-scoped so you can train immediately. Linking to Apple, Google or email is optional, but worth doing on day one: an unlinked account lives only on that device and is lost if you uninstall.

What phone do I need to run the rep counter?

On-device pose detection uses the operating system's own vision framework, which is broadly supported on modern iOS and Android devices. Older hardware may run the model at a lower frame rate, which shows up as slightly less responsive counting rather than as failure to count.

Do I need equipment to play the push-up game?

No equipment at all. You need a patch of floor and a phone you can stand upright so the camera can see you. No weights, no bands, no gym, no wearable and no tripod, though a small tripod does make framing easier.

What languages does the app support?

English, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese. This website is currently English only, so some pages here will be in English even where the app is not.

Does the app work offline?

Counting works offline, because the pose model and the rep logic run on your phone. A ranked session needs a live connection, because the server issues and verifies it, and that is what keeps the leaderboards honest.

Can I use the training guides without installing the app?

Yes. Every guide and calculator on this site is free, needs no account and works in a browser. The app counts your reps and gives them somewhere to go; it does not own the training method, which is published here in full.
